Devitt Wins, Godfather Racing 1-2-3 at Daytona

May 14, 2013 in News

The second round of the PTY Premiere Series was at Daytona on Monday 05/13. Jack Honeycutt barely made it into the race server, but took the pole with a last-second qualifying lap. The 88-lap race went caution free, and came down to two tandems. At the line, Tyler Stelluti made a run on the outside with Doug Moore, as they tried to pass Kyle Devitt and Jack Honeycutt. Moore pulled out to make it three-wide for the win, and Honeycutt’s final push on Devitt’s bumper was enough to get Devitt to the line first for the victory. Stelluti crossed the stripe just 0.002 seconds back, and Moore was third, 0.040 seconds back. Honeycutt came home fourth and Jarrett Bolyard posted a top five finish. After two weeks, Kyle Devitt holds the points lead by four points over Doug Moore and by nine points over Tom Moustakas. Next week, the series will be back in Talladega for a showdown in the Gen-6 Cup cars.

Premiere Series Opener Goes to Moustakas

May 7, 2013 in News

While Tom Moustakas is the PTY Premiere Series all-time wins leader, his last feature victory came in December 12 during the 13th season. That changed Monday 05/06 in the PTY Premiere Series season opener at Talladega. Gary Horsley drove his truck to the pole position to begin the 17th season. The 88-lap race only had one caution for three laps, and featured 50 lead changed among 11 different drivers. Chris Crosby led the most laps (23) but made a costly speeding penalty which took him out of the battle for the win. In the closing laps, the tandem of Doug Moore and Kyle Devitt battled with Matt Smith and Tom Moustakas for the win. At the line, Moustakas edged Moore for the win by 0.022 seconds. Smith was third, followed by Devitt and Brian Corin. Next week, the series heads to Daytona for a race in the Impala B.

Goke Claims First PTY Premiere Series Title

April 23, 2013 in News

Jonathan Goke continued his dominance in the PTY Premiere Series in the final race of the season. After teaming up with Richie Brose, the tandem nailed their two green-flag pitstops and pulled away from the field in the caution-free event. Goke claimed the championship in dominating fashion, leading 30 of 88 laps en route to his third victory of the season. Brose finished second in the race, followed by Wallace Stevens, Gary Horsley, and Jack Honeycutt. Stevens wound up 2nd in overall points, just ahead of Tom Moustakas. Kyle Devitt and Jack Honeycutt tied in points for the next two spots; Devitt’s one victory broke the tie, giving him fourth and Honeycutt fifth.

Although this week will be an off week for PTY, next week will bring the 5th PTY All-Star Race. The format is yet to be announced, but it should be an exciting race. Congratulations to Jonathan Goke and the rest of the participants in this season’s races!

Congratulaions! Gary Horsley Cruises to his 3rd Traveling Truck Series Championship!

April 23, 2013 in News

We finished up the “Fertile Grounds” Traveling Truck Series Season #5 last evening at Michigan International Speedway.

Gary had a commanding 25 point lead going into the night, but he worked hard to see if he could finish the season with a 3rd victory to sweeten the Championship run.

Nic Ramsay put down the fastest lap in Qualifying to put Gary on the outside front row for the last race of the season.

Nic Ramsay led the most laps with 31, and the trio of Thomas Holder, Mickey Tuttle & Gary Horsley all tied the runner up position with 19 laps led each.

Horsely & Tuttle traded the lead for about the last dozen laps, but on lap 86 Tuttle would slingshot around Horsely and not relinquish the lead again to give Mickey Tuttle the Victory.

Congratulations to Mickey Tuttle on his Michigan International Speedway Win!

Goke Grabs Second Premiere Series Win, Points Lead

April 18, 2013 in News

The 7th race of the season in the PTY Premiere Series was in Talladega with the Silverado on 04/15. Jonathan Goke won the pole, and led the most laps while running with Chris Crosby for most of the event; the tandem led a combined 62 of 88 laps. The race went caution free, and after two great pitstops, the tandem of Goke and Crosby held a 13-second lead over the next group. Goke went on to pass Crosby on the last lap and take his second win of the season. Nic Ramsay finished third, followed by Wallace Stevens and Jack Honeycutt. With drivers being able to use two drop weeks this season, the standings shook up a bit with one week left to go. Goke’s win propelled him to the points lead over Tom Moustakas by 7 points. Wallace Stevens (-8) is still in the hunt, as well as Kyle Devitt (-11), Tyler Stelluti (-12), and Jack Honeycutt (-12). Will Jonathan Goke be able to win his first championship brick trophy, or will Tom Moustakas win his sixth? Or will a new champion emerge when the dust settles in Daytona? We will find out next week!

Horsely Comfortably Extends series Point-Lead with Victory @ the Rock

April 15, 2013 in News

The “Got Mulch Truck Series” visited one of Nascar’s oldest tracks “The Rock” for a second time this week for 100 laps of stomach churning fun in our Sunday Night Series sponsored by Thomas Holder.

Paul Covington put up the evening’s fastest lap in qualifying to put himself on the pole. He would eventually have some trouble scraping the wall & mistakes on pit road to bring the trio of Horsley, Holder & Schmidt to dominate most of the evening in a caution-less race. In the closing laps, it would be Gary Horsely who would have the best pit stop for fuel & tires when Holder overshot his pits after racing Horsley for much of the evening.

The top five results were:

-1. Gary Horsely

-2. Thomas Holder

-3. Ray Schmidt

-4. Ed Peoples

-5. Paul Covington.

We wrap up the Truck series this week @ Michigan with Gary Horsely in a commanding 22 point lead over Thomas Holder.
